Here at Powys Dragons, we are keen to engage with the community. If we have an opportunity to volunteer or help any of the local communities with anything, we are happy to do so!!
Of course, not all the deeds helping the community are done by the club... occasionally we have some students who go above and beyond to help their local communities, or to help bigger organisations through fundraising or completing tasks to raise money or benefit others who may be in need.
If a student is identified as having done something, anything from helping their elderly neighbour with shopping to a full blown marathon.. then this is their page!
This page has some photo's of events completed by Powys Dragons as a club, but also photo's of those children who have been awarded a certificate commemorating their own personal achievements!

Our "Clean for the Queen" saw Powys Dragons cleaning up a local football ground and park around their Llansantffraid Class in June 2016. Several of the children and their parents came along and teamed up with Llansantffraid WI (who provided much needed refreshments). We even had Sean from MD Warriors pop along and say hi!
We also helped host a winter fair in Llansantffraid to raise funds for the Dot Com children's charity!
And helped Kros Bros collect some much needed items for those in need during the winter months. The donations were handed by myself, Gareth of Kros Bros and some of the children to the Pont Hafren centre in Newtown!
A message from Julia at Pont Hafren received just before Christmas 2016:
Thank you so much, I sorted through the bags and the mens clothing went to MFCC and some of the food, we have also kept some of the food to do bags for those who may be short over the christmas period or new year. Some of the sleeping bags have been passed on to the rotary to be given to people who are sleeping rough at the moment, I will write to you with all of these details and thanks so you can pass on to all your parents who donated. Thank you again and a Merry Christmas to you all Julia x |
Lewis Bebb is one of our Newtown Maldwyn Dragons and is the first Dragon to be awarded two certificates. Firstly, after competing in the local Urdd swimming gala's he eventually came 2nd and 3rd overall in the whole of Wales - a wonderful achievement!
Secondly, Lewis has recently completed a non-stop 6k swim - raising £500 for Marie Curie!
Rowan and Matthew Watkin from our Caersws class were awarded a certificate for their help in fundraising for local cancer charities. The brothers joined up with some friends to create some loom band creations and sold them in order to benefit those suffering with cancer!
Eli Jones, at only 5 years old, is one of our smallest Dragons to receive an award! He regularly helps his mum and dad organise and run Bettws Banger Racing... an event that raises quite substantial amounts of monies benefitting both local and national charities! This year he helped them raise over £20,000!!
Ellis Kerr has received an award from his fundraising efforts to benefit Hope House with a sponsored 8 mile walk!
As well as the work Powys Dragons do, we are keen to support other clubs within the Kros Bros family and recently attended an award ceremony in Telford. The BCA's are a set of awards focussing around businesses for children, MD Warriors was nominated in the Sports Business for Children and/or Young People 2017 category and won!! We were there to support them on the evening!
In March 2017, one of our Newtown parents (Cal Ainsworth) approached me with a letter to say that he'd been awarded a grant by his company (WHoward Group) to benefit a local children's club! I was unaware he'd applied for the grant and to be honoured with something such as this, really does make me feel like the work all our instructors do with the children across all our clubs clearly doesn't go unnoticed! We don't do what we do for this kind of reward, we do it to ensure the children have a fun time, learn a new skill and most importantly keep fit and healthy! That is reward enough for all our instructors!
K.B.M.A.C. HEROES
Following on from all the good deeds that our K.B.M.A.C. students have been involved in across all clubs, 2018 saw the launch of our Community Angels project and is now known as KB Heroes!
The idea of the heroes, is to promote good deeds and encourage those around them to do good. There are many heroes from all K.B.M.A.C. clubs around the world with one simple message - to do good and spread positivity to as many in as many different ways as possible!
